Jewish Day Schools

Jewish Academy of Arts & Sciences

5520A Wyoming Boulevard NE       Albuquerque, NM 87109       (505) 232-2325       http://www.jewishacademynm.org

The Jewish Academy of Arts & Sciences was originally founded in 1996 as the Solomon Schechter Day School of Albuquerque.  A group of parents and community leaders felt it was important that Albuquerque should have a day school that would provide a comprehensive secular and Jewish education to children in the community.  Financial assistance was received in the form of an endowment established by Morris Gusowsky, of blessed memory.
Jewish Academy of Arts & Sciences
In 2013, the school became known as the Jewish Academy of Arts and Sciences.  The Board’s decision to change the name was based on input from an Identity Task Force, that concluded the existing name was turning away families not affiliated with any synagogue, a new name should serve as a better reflection of the current demographics of the Jewish community, and the brand should spark the interest of prospective families in Albuquerque.

Today, enrollment is growing and the secular and Judaic curricula are getting stronger.  New and continuing faculty are re-invigorating the school with the energy, joy and commitment to high-quality academics envisioned by the school’s founders.
