Miller Introduction to Judaism

The Miller Introduction to Judaism (MITJ)program offers an experiential, engaging, & welcoming learning path for the study of Judaism for Jews & non-Jews alike.

MITJ is taught by Rabbi Dov Gartenberg and Michael Seidel. MITJ is sponsored by the Adult Education Committee of Congregation B’nai Israel of Albuquerque, in partnership with the Miller Introduction to Judaism Program of the American Jewish University.

Tuesday evening sessions 7:00-8:30 pm, with an in-person/and virtual option.
Program runs weekly from November 30, 2021 to June 28, 2022

MITJ Topics of Learning:

  • Sabbath and Festivals, life cycle, and home rituals.
  • Sample texts from the Jewish Library including the Hebrew Scriptures, Talmud, and Jewish mystical texts. 
  • Survey of key events in Jewish history both ancient and modern. 

MITJ is geared for 

  • Jewish adults seeking to deepen their Jewish knowledge and reconnect to Jewish community.
  • Anyone engaged in raising a Jewish child who is seeking a firmer Jewish foundation. 
  • Non-Jewish adults in relationship with a Jewish adult who wants to learn about Jewish culture. 
  • Non-Jewish adults who are considering conversion to Judaism
MITJ Tuition is very affordable at $136, which includes the main sourcebook.
